me urban – Meine Stadt – ma ville – my town

What is the identity of a city? With what are its inhabitants identified? What do they think and what do they imagine, when they picture about their own city or another?

Buildings or squares or specific urban places are the items, we bond to our cities! And these are the spirit and the atmosphere at a specific place. The humor of a lovely autumn day or a day with snow.

Or the pleasure to be outside without coat and to drink a coffee or to go for a walk. And of course – it’s our emotions that we conjoin to a specific place: What did I enjoy at this place? Whom did I meet? What did I feel and what did I think?

Being an urban planner, I seeked for a manner of expression to combine these elements: The identities of a city – its buildings and places – at the one side and the ambiances due to weather conditions as well as the emotions of us humans being in these urban places on

the other side. With the illustrations ‘me urban’ I found this way of expression: “My town – me urban”: here I am me, here I feel good, this is my town!

The medium ‘illustration’ allows to emphasise the important aspects of a specific urban place. Il also allows to omit what seems secondary. The colourful backdrop shows emotion and dynamic – thus the illustrations express the spirit of a city!
